Richland County Council elects new leadership for its 2012 legislative session. On Tuesday, January 10th. The Council
elected Kelvin Washington Council Chair and Greg Pearce as Council Vice Chair.
Mr. Kelvin E. Washington Sr. was elected to office in November 2008 and represents Richland County Council District 10.
Mr. Washington holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from South Carolina State University and currently works for the
South Carolina Department of Transportation.
Councilman Greg Pearce represents District 6 and has been on County Council since January 1999 and previously serviced
as the Vice Chairman of Council in early 2000. Vice Chairman Pearce has worked as a tireless advocate on issues of
economic development, health care, mental health issues, and aviation.
The new Chair praised outgoing Chairman Paul Livingston of Council District 4 and Vice Chairman Damon Jeter of Council
District 3 for their service to the Council and the community.
